It has been a wild ride for the last few weeks! I had to start and stop the Elimination Diet four times. The first week I tried it I got violently sick, I had a fever, night sweats, extreme fatigue to the point where I was unable to climb out of bed. I was non functioning. Mr Handyman insisted I come off the diet and because I was feeling so lousy I agreed. The second/third time I tried to go back on the diet the same thing happened, Mr Handyman and myself decided that I must have an overload of toxins in my body that need to be released looks like I am going to feel like this for awhile. It's no surprise that my body is toxic, I just wasn't expecting this kind of reaction. Needless to say I had to stop the diet once more, I still hadn't made it past the smoothie stage! I was pretty sure I was destined to stay at the smoothie stage for the rest of my life!
However I gave it one more go, and I'm glad I did! The fourth time was the charm for me, I was able to stick to the full two days of the cleansing smoothie ( which is delicious by the way). I felt so proud of myself! My body was still weak, I was suffering from headaches, fatigue and general moodiness but I was finally past the first stage. WOOHOO!!!
I have now moved onto phase one! I am so happy I can eat again, Mr handyman is not overly thrilled with the food selection, but he is being as supportive as he can. Mr Handyman hates almost every veggie that's out there and has as very limited will eat category, so for the time being he is surviving on frozen pizza and hungry man dinners. We have come to a mutual agreement that he can eat whatever he wants while I am sleeping or if he's out of the house So things have worked out for at least a little while .
I am hoping in the next coming weeks I will begin to feel stronger, have less headaches and generally be healthier. I am taking it one day at a time, with the hopes that this Elimination Diet will answer a few of my questions regarding any food sensitivities I may have and what I need to stay away from in order to live a less painful life. I know this diet isn't a fix all, but it's a place to start.
