Creative Corner: Cheap Wall Art/ Jewlery Display

My spirits have been down in the dumps the last couple of weeks and my pain level through the roof ! But this  weekend was quite successful when it came to getting things done, It also went a lot faster then expected as I had the help of my hubby. (Mr Handyman) . All of the projects are quite simple but sometimes it's nice to have an extra pair of hands!

The first thing on the list I wanted finished was  some artwork for our newly painted bedroom, with a limited income it was important to me to find something inexpensive. After months of looking for something that both Mr. Handyman and myself could agree on, and not finding anything I decided to just make my own wall art.

All you need for this project is:
Picture Frames
Scrapbook Paper
Scissors or Paper Cutter
Hammer/Small Nails

The first thing I did was go to Walmart and purchase three very cheap frames, each frame was only $3.00. I then raided my scrapbook supplies to find paper that would match the duvet cover on our bed. I cut the paper to the same size as the frames. I used my paper cutter but you can just use scissors, I placed the paper in the frame and Mr Handyman put it up on the wall. Easy Peasy! The best part about this project is that it will be so easy to change out once we get tired of these colours.

The second project we tackled was a hanging necklace holder for me. I have been wanting to make something like this ever since I saw a similar project on pintrest (my new obsession)

With my own home based jelwery business Three B Designs, I knew I needed something farily large not only to hold my jewlery but also my sample pieces. So I sent Mr. Handyman down to the basement to find a scrap piece of wood. He happend to have a piece already cut that would fit the space I had picked out perfectly. The next step was to find some fabric in my stash and buy some hooks. Mr. Handyman went to Home Depot and bought a package of 25 hooks for approx $3.50.

We then sat on the floor together and stapled the fabric to the back of the board. We used a heavy duty  carpenders stapler.  When doing this project it is easier to have two people as the fabric needs to be pulled tight so you don't have creases on the front. Next Mr Handyman got out the tape measure and drummel set.

He measured the exact distance he needed to space the hooks and marked them out with a pen. He then used our drummel kit to drill tiny holes along the bottom of the board. After making the holes he screwed the hooks in. He then flipped it over and placed two picture hanging hooks on the back.  Voila a new necklace display for our bedroom! I love it so much I might just drive Mr. Handyman crazy with all the other fabric covered projects I have in mind!
