Weather Changes/ Last Elimination Diet Update

It's days like to today I wish we lived in a sunny warm tropical destination, the Alberta winter  has been wreaking havoc on my body. This week I  was reduced to nothing more then a pile of crying mush. Yesterday was one of those days where even the sheets on our bed made me cringe in pain. For the most part our winter this year has been mild compared to previous years, however we have had more changes in the weather patterns. It goes from freezing cold one day to above 0 the next.I can't wait for spring to finally come our way.
It has been like this pretty much all winter, making it hard to stick to any sort of schedule or diet plan. I'm sure everyone knows what it's like to have a sick day where you feel like if you get out of bed you might just die. Well that's how I was feeling while trying to stay on my elimination diet.  I was vomiting, had whole body shakiness and weakness, had limited strength to stand or go down the stairs to make meals, I couldn't even open a jar of pickles that my husband had already mostly opened for me. In many ways I felt like I did a month after my car accident. Come to think of it was exactly like I had been rear ended by a tour bus!!!! Not a great feeling in the least.

I have to say there is nothing wrong with the elimination diet, in fact it is a very healthy way to try and find out what foods you have a negative reaction to. I just believe that my body is so toxic right now that if I even want to consider doing a detox of any sort  I should probably do it under a doctors supervision maybe even a naturopathic doctor. I would rather be save then sorry. I really do think that the elimination diet that is featured on http://www.nourishingmeals.com/ can help people, I highly suggest that if you are suffering from  migraines, chronic fatigue, joint pain, bowel discomfort, stomach problems etc... to give the elimination diet a try.Even if you don't plan on doing the diet I recommend you get their cookbook http://www.nourishingmeals.com/p/our-cookbook.html. It is full of super delicious good for you meals. Prepared with whole foods, you won't see them calling for anything processed. Just plain clean and yummy.

A few of my favorite recipes are:
Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Pancakes
Quinoa Zucchini Bread
Vegetarian Chipotle Chili
Tai Chicken Curry

                       http://www.nourishingmeals.com/p/our-cookbook.html
The list could go on and on, it really is one of my favorite cookbooks.  I typically end up using one recipe a week from it when making my weekly meal plans. (more on that later) The book is really easy to order from their website and delivery is fast.

Since the elimination diet didn't work for me at this time, I plan on keeping it in the back of my mind and will hopefully be able to pull it out in the future. For now I am just going to concentrate on researching a gluten free life, how I can accomplish going gluten free, how it can help my digestive issues, and how I can transition into it easier and set my self up for a success switch. My main focus for now is how to live life happy and healthier.

  1. lmao- hit by a bus! (sorry for laughing) I feel your pain- just most days it's a truck. That sucks about getting so sick with that particular elimination diet... Are you thinking about trying a different diet with a dr? Or same one, just later?
